Every year, I set a few personal goals to achieve on a monthly basis. Things like going on at least one hike, dedicating time to one volunteer activity, and finishing one book. Usually, I pick each book as the months go by, but for this coming year I’ve decided to plan ahead and choose all 12 books in advance. Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few that I haven’t gotten around to reading, so it’s time to catch up before I let myself buy any more. I want to finally make my way through the ones I already have in my library.
Am I missing any that I just NEED to add? If you’ve read any of the books on my list, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis - I read this book once over 20 years ago and I think I’m long overdue for a refresher.
Driven by Eiternity by John Bevere
Thunder Dog by Michael Hingson - I just love animals and I always appreciate a true story where the hero is an animal.
You are not Behind by Megan Asbury
Gay Girl, Good God by Jackie Hill Perry - this book has intrigued me for a couple of years now and in today’s world, I feel it would benefit me to read a book written by someone who’s had personal experience with this topic for a broader perspective.
Is God a Moral Monster by Paul Copan - let’s just say that I have a lot of questions about the Old Testament, that I’m hoping this book helps answer. I don’t doubt God’s goodness but I find that I don’t always have answers to questions about the Old Testament when I’m asked.
Never Leave the Dogs Behind by Brianna Madia - I read her first book and I absolutely loved it! I’m excited to dive into her second book.
It’s not Supposed to be Like This by Lisa TerKeurst
Knowing God’s Voice by Rachael Groll
The Book of Hope by Jane Goodall - This book has been on my shelf since the day it was released. I’ve started it countless times but never finished—not because it isn’t good, but simply because life gets busy. I added it to my 2026 reading list almost 4 months ago, and now, in light of Jane’s passing, I’m finally committing to reading it from start to finish.
Ready as You Are by Brittany Maher
Stones Still Speak by Amanda Hope Haley - I LOVE this subject matter and might move this up to the top of my list and read it first or second.
If I happen to get ahead of schedule and can fit in a few extras, I’d like to read these 3:
You are a theologian by Jen Wilkin & J.T. English
More than Conquerors by William Hendrikson
Finding the Right Hills to Die On by Gavin Ortlund
