ABOUT

The Cliffs Notes

Hi, I’m Hilda! I love God with all of my heart and have a passion for connecting with people, loving on animals, studying the Bible and spending time in nature. I have personally experienced God’s grace and supernatural healing in my life many times, and nothing brings me more joy than helping point others to the only place where true peace, hope, healing, and restoration can be found — God.

I started this blog as a place to share my thoughts, to work out my faith, and to process both the questions I’ve found answers to and the ones I’m still working through. I know I’m not the first person to wrestle with these questions — so why not “think and study out loud” and invite others into that journey?

This blog began during one of the hardest seasons of my life — a deep wilderness season, where I felt completely alone and abandoned. It was a time of confusion and heartache, and honestly, and I wanted somewhere to share what I was learning. A safe space to ask hard questions, organize events for others feeling the same way I was, and not feel like I had to have it all figured out. I’m actually still walking through parts of that wilderness, but by God’s grace, I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As this space grew, so did my faith. I began to see that this wasn’t just a journal — it was a journey of growth. I’m currently enrolled in a Protestant Bible school and Hebrew school, while also re-exploring the Catholic faith I grew up in. My faith is being stretched, challenged, and refined in ways I never expected. This blog has become my way of “thinking out loud,” a space to wrestle with questions, document what I’m learning, and hopefully start conversations with others who might be asking the same things.

I’m not a pastor, a preacher, or a teacher. Just a girl who loves Jesus and wants to make Him known — even if that means learning, unlearning, and growing right alongside you.

My hope is that this space inspires thoughtful introspection and a deeper desire to seek God more. Because Scripture promises that if you seek Him, you will find Him.

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” — Jeremiah 29:13

The recipes you find here are just for fun. One of my spiritual gifts is hospitality and since I can’t welcome all of you into my home, sharing my delicious creations is the next best thing! Hospitality has always been one of the ways God wired me to love and serve others, and I see it as a reflection of His open invitation to us. The miscellaneous posts are just that — little pieces of life I hope will bless or encourage you along the way.

If you are also in a “wilderness time,” you are not alone, and I hope this is a space that helps point you in the right direction.

What does it mean to be “in the wilderness”?

A “wilderness experience” is usually thought of as a tough season in which a believer endures discomfort and trials. The pleasant things of life may be absent, encouragement feels scarce, and temptation or spiritual attack can intensify. It might look like spiritual dryness, financial strain, or emotional heaviness. But it’s important to know — a wilderness season is not necessarily a sign of sin. Often, it is a God-ordained testing ground.

A “wilderness experience” is often linked to a “mountaintop experience.” That is, the season of struggle often comes before a breakthrough — the victory, the deeper revelation, the mountaintop moment of joy. In Scripture, we see this when the Israelites wandered in the desert before entering the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 8), or when Jesus fasted in the wilderness before launching His public ministry (Matthew 4). The testing prepared the way for the triumph.

I have personally been in the midst of many God-appointed wildernesses in my life — we all have a story. I am here to tell you that the mighty power of God has helped me overcome EVERYTHING the enemy intended for bad, and I have NO DOUBT that He wants to do the same for you and will continue to do the same for me! Oftentimes, God takes us “into the wilderness” to prepare us for what He is planning for our lives, to give us revelations of who He is, to help us grow into who He intended for us to be, and to draw us closer to Him. Don’t run from your time in the wilderness — lean into it. God is waiting for you there.

I would be honored to pray with you and walk alongside you at our virtual and in person gatherings, as you seek deeper communion with Him and experience His healing from the inside out. If you are unable to join us, feel free to send in your prayer requests below and I will add you to my prayer list.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” — 2 Corinthians 1:3

In addition to the blog, I also host free, Christ-centered gatherings and events — each prayerfully designed to build community and tend to mind, body, and soul. Feel free to explore the “Gatherings” page to see what’s coming up.

I facilitate — Jesus heals.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Jesus (Matthew 11:28)

Lastly, I’d love to invite you to browse my shop — it’s full of items meant to help you grow in your faith or declare your faith proudly. I do my best to include items that resonate across Christian denominations, and I add new products every couple of months. Feel free to take a look around and see if something might be helpful or beneficial to you, or bless someone you love.

As part of this mission, 10% of the profits from every sale are donated quarterly to Canines for Christ Therapy Dog Ministry. This ministry pairs volunteers and their dogs to visit hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and crisis centers — using the unique bond between people and dogs to open doors for prayer, encouragement, and sharing the love and comfort of Jesus.

A Prayer for You:

Father, I lift up every person who finds their way here. You know their hearts, their hurts, their doubts, and their hopes. Meet them right where they are today. Let Your Word bring light to their questions, Your Spirit bring peace to their storms, and Your love remind them they are never alone. May this space be a place of encouragement, truth, and hope — all pointing back to You. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
